April 2015 Wrapup

a wrap up;

In the month of April I think I read quite a number of titles but not specifically novels. I think this month was the month I discovered the Marvel Universe comics, and I have to say I have been reading comics non-stop. So here are the titles that I've read this past month:

Novels

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

I gave this book a 4/5 star rating.

I really enjoyed this book as a whole, I really liked the main character and her love interest! I think they make a really cute couple and I just want more of their love!

The world required more of getting used to because of the amount of fairy folk and creatures present in this novel. Since it is a faery novel and it was the first one for me I did take a bit of getting used to but I found myself really enjoying the book so much!

I finished this book in one sitting so if that doesn't tell you how much I really liked this book, I don't know what will!

Fortunately, the Milk... By Neil Gaiman, Illustrated by Chris Riddell

I give it a 3.5-4/5 star rating

I read this book in the Dewey's Readathon because I needed something light and I saw this one lying around and since I never read a Neil Gaiman book I decided to give it a try.

I think I would've enjoyed this book more if I was younger as it was specifically targeted for younger readers so I wasn't able to enjoy it more. All in all I think this is a pretty cool and fun book to read to kids or for yourself if you're in the mood for a light read!

Graphic Novels

Amulet, Book 1: The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi

I gave this a 4/5 star rating.

I also read this during the Dewey's 24 Hour Readathon since I was in the mood for a graphic novel. This graphic novel series have been getting a lot of hype in the book community lately and I was finally able to read this book!

I think the hype was deserved because I did enjoy my time reading the storyline! I really liked reading about the main charactes' adventures and I can already tell that this is just the beginning of an epic journey!

Did I mention the artwork was stunning? Well, it is! Part of what made me enjoy this book so much was the artwork!

Comics

I read a ton of comics this past month and I don't want to list all of them here to clutter so I'm just going to post my favorites and the rest would be in a goodreads bookshelf linked down below!

The Uncanny Inhumans #0 by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven

I gave this a 5/5 star rating
I can't express my love for this issue enough! I absolutely loved every aspect of it! I can't wait for more issues!

I'm really enjoying the storyline and the main character is kickass and the artwork...I can't even! It was too good!

I can't with this one, I can't put my feels coherently. I'm sorry.

Rat Queens #1 by Kurtis J. Wiebe

I gave this a 5/5 star rating!

I can already tell that this is going to be a kickass comic series! The first issue itself was already enough to hook me! It was such a good edition, I loved how all the characters were introduced in their own quirky way and I loved the kick butt vibe throughout this novel!

The gore of this novel isn't so bad so it didn't make me feel uncomfortable...actually I found it really cool..

All in all; AWESOME.

April 2015 Comic Bookshelf!

So that was all for this post! I hope you guys enjoyed reading my post! Until next time~

A Thousand Pieces of You By Claudia Gray Book Review

Synopsis

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

My Review

I absolutely loooooved this book. This book definitely received a 5 star rating for me, it was that good.

I started this book with low expectations since I've heard mixed reviews of it, but I have to say I was really impressed with how this one turned out! I'm so glad to have started this on a whim because it was such a fast read (I'm annoyed at how long this book to me because of my procrastinating habit!).

The world does require a bit of getting used to since it does involve parallel universes and it did overwhelm me when I first started but by a few chapters, I was able to get the pace and universe jumping.

I have to say that I did end up loving the characters, at first I thought that I couldn't connect with the characters but as the story progresses, I warmed up and understood where each characters were coming from! I was really impressed with the main character's character development throughout the plot too, I have a feeling that she would be one of my favorite character as the story progresses!

Two words.

The

Romance.

With this gif fest, I think it's safe to summarize my feelings about this book. This is such an awesome start to something extraordinary and all of you just have to pick it up!

It is so worth it.

an update

it's been so long

Ah, it's been so long since I've actually sat down to write a blog entry! I miss the times :( So, I'm going to give a short update to what I've been doing lately!

Ever since the last blog post (which was a little over a month ago!) I didn;t really do well in terms of reading. I don't think I had a better reading month than last month but I managed to read some awesome books!

Why I say that October wasn't a good reading month was because I managed to read 4 books but ended up not finishing 2 books! One of which was The Diviners by Libba Bray! It was such a shame because this was supposed to be my "Halloween" read and also for the Divine Readalong me and Avra from @bookexplorers on ig decided to have. I just couldn't get into the story because it was developing in such a slow pace and I guess during that period I wasn't into reading because of all the many tests I was having.

The case of the wrong situation and wrong timing. Such a shame..

The 2nd book I wasn't able to finish was The Chaos of Stars by Kiersten White. I started this book being so excited because of the Egyptian mythology involved but I couldn't get into it (again) mainly because I attended IIBF14 (Indonesia International Book Fair) this past weekend and I got quiet the number of books! Within these book purchases too, I really wanted to pick up a novel which I would be mentioning soon! I really do want to finish both these books hopefully soon since my final exams are approaching (less reading time for me Dx)

So, as I said earlier I picked up a novel from IIBF and that is my current read! It is a novel called 4 Ways to get a Wife by Hyun Go Wun! It's actually a korean romcom novel but a publishing company here translated it to my mother tongue! I was so excited to read this because I have never read a purely Indonesian novel before so I was excited for the experience and challenge! (I don't have the best Indonesian, I prefer speaking in English.... :P)

So, I believe this is all I have for this update! I hope you guys enjoyed reading about my adventures last month! Tune in for reviews soon! :D

p.s; the goodreads link for all the books mentioned above would be linked to its title!

The #DivineReadalong 2014!

Heeylo there.

So, I don't think I've mentioned it here before but I have a copy of The Diviners for a few months now and to be honest, I didn't have plans on reading it cause it's one heck of a book, and I have school so the idea of reading gigantic books- in general, was just out of the question for me.

But around a week ago, I posted a picture of The Diviners and how much I really needed to get started on this book, well through that picture I met Avra from @bookexplorers on instagram and found out that both of us really wanted to read the book!

So, we decided to host a month long readalong for this book starting from October 1 all the way through October 31! Basically, we're hosting this readalong so it'll be a much more enjoyable experience while reading this book!

So, without delaying, below are the details of The Diviners by Libba Bray!

As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds.
